Where Calm Feels Like Home

Where Calm Feels Like Home He doesn’t speak over me, he listens— like my words matter even when they tremble. There’s patience in his pauses, kindness stitched into his silences, and responsibility sitting quietly in the way he shows up—every time. He does things before I even realize I needed them, as if my expectations live somewhere in his instincts. A heart that’s gentle, not weak— just brave enough to care deeply. He remembers me in ways people usually forget— my moods, my chaos, the unsaid between sentences. Sometimes I think         he’s lost in my thoughts, but really, he just understands me without making it a performance. The Weight I Carry

 The Weight I Carry

They see me standing, but they don’t know,
The battles within, the storms that grow.
Bruises unseen, not just on my skin,
A war of the heart, a fight deep within.

They strike with words, with hands that sting,
Yet I rise, though broken wings.
Each tear I shed, a silent plea,
For the freedom to simply be me.

I bear the scars of what they can't see,
Type 1’s shadow always with me.
A warrior's fight, day by day,
Balancing life in a fragile way.

Exams I’ve failed, and dreams deferred,
Stress screaming loud, yet my voice unheard.
But I am more than the marks they grade,
A soul unyielding, though often afraid.

I want to scream, to break the chains,

To dance in the sunlight, free from pain.
But even in darkness, a fire burns,
A quiet strength my soul discerns.

For every fall, I learn to stand,
Rebuilding my life with trembling hands.
I may be weary, but I’ll endure,
For within me lies a heart so pure.

So to the world, I’ll softly say,
I am not my struggles; I’ll find my way.
Through every wound, through every tear,
I’ll rise again, despite the fear.
